If you are interested in being a volunteer tutor and helping Cincinnati Public Schools' students achieve academic success, you should consider becoming a Bearcat Buddy. It's a powerful way to give back, and provides a meaningful experience for you and the students you serve.
I loved Bearcat Buddies so much that I signed up to tutor again at Ethel M. Taylor in the Spring. I asked to get paired up with Keanu Reeves again but instead I got assigned to not one but two new students. I still got to see Keanu every once in a while, but I was also very excited to be working with third grader Tre'nay Jackson and fifth grader Twonesha Burns. This time my slot was for Thursdays from 9- 10:30 am (January 10-April 18). I liked that the time was a bit later because the kids seemed more open to initiating conversations and I found that I was able to get to know my two students very well by the end of the year. I am positive that I want to continue to tutor with this program in the future and I would urge any UC student to volunteer as well. It was truly a wonderful experience and one of the highlights of my freshman year.
