My group was selected among other diversity project participants as one of the best seen this year. This decision was based on both presentation and content. As a reward for our work we were invited to have lunch with Vice President Debra Merchant in University Pavilion. Take a look at our winning presentation: As a WorldFest activity we presented our Turner Diversity Project in the AARC from 6-10pm. Our group went first and we presented on Education Reform.
I spent most of the day at this amazing conference, along with the rest of my Turner family, geared to make Leadership more accessible to students by defining what true leadership means even if no actual position is involved. I learned so much from that event and I intend to sign up for more conferences in the future.
I modeled in the Lunar New Year fashion as a way to engage in more diverse activities and provide the Asian American Association with an extra volunteer. As a grand finale, all the models dance to Gangnam Style. I went to this walk along with the rest of my new and giant Darwin T. Turner family. We left at 8:30am to go downtown to the freedom center on a rainy morning but no amount of chilly weather could keep us down. I met most of my close friends from the Turner program at that event and we bonded before, during and after the walk. I felt like I was getting to represent the UC community and also making new memories while having a great time.
